Over time, the Department of Health functions may change depending upon the observed needs of the Tribe, the complexity of the Department, and the Tribe’s annual budget. The Departmental functions may include but not be limited to:

A. Provide indirect or direct medical care, dental care, optometry, pharmacy, and behavioral health care for tribal members.

B. Provide purchased referred care when needed, in order to aid members in obtaining and utilizing appropriate health care services.

C. Develop a wellness program to provide preventative services, such as health education and activities, for members.

D. Provide for effective communication and dissemination of information to members.

E. Provide a high level of social well-being essential to the improvement of the quality of life of the Tribe’s elders including programs that promote their immediate and long-term positive health and support their caregivers.

F. Provide important information and resources to the Tribe’s elders regarding health, health care, financial, and legal matters. (Res. 2023-30; Res. 2021-40; Res. 2014-32)
