A. The Tribal Historic Preservation Advisory Committee shall consist of three (3) to seven (7) members of the Tribe, appointed by the Chairperson and confirmed by Tribal Council on or before January 31 of each odd-numbered calendar year. If a minor tribal member serves on the Committee, then the Chairperson or Spokesperson for the Tribal Council shall conduct a registered sex offender check for all adult Committee members. Tribal Council may appoint, by resolution, one (1) Council Member to serve as ex officio member of the Committee. Such ex officio member will serve until their Council term expires, they resign from the Committee, or their appointment is revoked by Tribal Council.

B. The Tribal Historic Preservation Advisory Committee shall serve in an advisory capacity on matters referred by the Executive Director or the Chairperson. Committee responsibilities include disseminating appropriate information on cultural heritage and history of the Tribe in public and private forums.

C. The Tribal Historic Preservation Advisory Committee shall be involved in strategic planning of the Department of Cultural Preservation and shall be consulted during development of the Department of Cultural Preservation’s annual goals and objectives.

D. Members of the Tribal Historic Preservation Advisory Committee shall serve two (2) year terms, and their terms shall expire on December 31 of the second year following their appointment. Members of the Tribal Historic Preservation Advisory Committee may be reappointed for additional terms. The Chairperson shall have the authority to remove any member of the Committee for good cause.
