§ 4-212 Pre-election day procedures for special elections.
The Election Commission shall provide at least thirty (30) calendar days’ notice of the need for a special election; the date, location, and time of the special election; and the process and deadline for applying for candidacy to adult members of the Tribe. The Election Commission shall post an official notice of Election at all tribal offices and facilities, on the Tribe’s website and by mail via USPS.
A. Adult members of the Tribe must submit an application for candidacy no later than six (6) business days prior to the date of special election.
B. The Election Commission shall verify that all applications for candidacy meet age, membership, and background requirements for holding elected office within the Tribe.
C. All individuals meeting the minimum candidacy requirements and filing for candidacy in the special election by the official deadline shall appear on the ballot of the special election. (Res. 2021-54; Res. 2020-14; Res. 2015-24; Res. 2014-41; Res. 2013-60; Res. 2013-57)
