A. The Attorney General shall be selected and confirmed by the Tribal Council and directed by the Chairperson.

B. The Attorney General shall be employed in one (1) of the following ways:

1. As a full-time employee, compensated pursuant to a salary;

2. As a part-time employee, compensated pursuant to an hourly wage;

3. As a contracted attorney, compensated based on a fixed monthly payment, hours billed to the Tribe, or any combination thereof.

C. The Attorney General shall be responsible for operating within the annually appropriated budget for the Legal Division.

D. The Attorney General shall plan, manage, and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Legal Division and oversee any established subdivisions, branches, and program offices within the Legal Division.

E. The Attorney General may be required to perform other duties, as determined by the Chairperson.

F. The Attorney General shall possess the following qualifications:

1. Demonstrated knowledge of all legal aspects involving tribal governments, tribal entities, and transactional services;

2. Demonstrated experience representing tribal governments or tribal entities, with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience involving direct representation;

3. Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in supervisory management with increasing responsibilities;

4. Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school;

5. Active member of the State Bar of California. (Res. 2023-55)
