A. The Chief of Staff shall be appointed by the Chairperson and confirmed by the Tribal Council.

B. The Chief of Staff shall be a full-time employee of the Tribe and paid compensation commensurate with their skills, education, experience, and responsibilities and within the standards of compensation established by the Tribe’s budget.

C. The Chief of Staff shall be responsible for operating within the annually appropriated budget for the Personnel Division.

D. The Chief of Staff shall plan, manage, and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Personnel Division and oversee any established subdivisions, branches, and program offices within the Personnel Division.

E. The Chief of Staff may be required to perform other duties, as determined by the Chairperson.

F. The Chief of Staff shall possess the following qualifications:

1. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of principles and practices in operations, management, and strategic decision-making;

2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in operations management, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a senior-level role, such as Chief of Staff, Executive Director, or similar role;

3. A Juris Doctor degree; master’s degree in business administration, management, political science, or another related subject; or a similar bachelor’s degree with one (1) year of experience in a senior-level role in addition to the requirements of subsection (F)(2)** of this section, totaling three (3) years of experience in a senior-level role.
