A. The Chief Operating Officer shall be appointed by the Chairperson and confirmed by the Tribal Council.

B. The Chief Operating Officer shall be a full-time employee of the Tribe and paid compensation commensurate with their skills, education, experience, and responsibilities and within the standards of compensation established by the Tribe’s budget.

C. The Chief Operating Officer shall be responsible for operating within the annually appropriated budget for the Operations Division.

D. The Chief Operating Officer shall plan, manage, and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Operations Division and oversee any established subdivisions, branches, and program offices within the Operations Division.

E. The Chief Operating Officer may be required to perform other duties, as determined by the Chairperson and/or Tribal Council pursuant to an official act.

F. The Chief Operating Officer shall possess the following qualifications:

1. Demonstrated knowledge of principles and practices in operations, management, and human resources and personnel.

2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in operations management, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in supervisory management with increasing responsibilities.

3. A master’s degree in business administration or another subject with an emphasis in management; or a similar bachelor’s degree with five (5) years of supervisory experience in addition to the requirements of subsection (F)(2)* of this section, totaling ten (10) years of supervisory experience.
