Article V. Elders Program

A. The Elders Committee will consist of all elders of the Tribe.

B. The Elders Committee will determine its meeting schedule and procedures; provided, that at least seven (7) elders must be present to conduct the business of the Elders Committee. The Executive Director of the Department of Health or their designee will be responsible to assist the Elders Committee with their voting and meeting procedures.

C. The Elders Committee will work with the Executive Director of the Department of Health or their designee for the hiring of an Elders Program Coordinator or similar position in the Department of Health. The Elders Program Coordinator will serve at the direction of the Executive Director of the Department of Health in consultation with the Elders Committee.

D. The Elders Committee will provide input to the Chairperson, the Executive Director of Administration and the Executive Director of the Department of Health on programs and activities relevant to elders.

E. The Elders Committee shall designate two (2) elders as emergency contacts for the Elders Program Coordinator. The Elders Committee Delegates shall be selected at the January meeting, upon majority vote, and will serve a one (1) year term unless there is a vacancy, then until the next monthly Elders Committee meeting. The Elders Committee Delegates shall not have the authority of the Elders Committee but instead shall serve in urgent circumstances when the Elders Committee does not have a timely meeting scheduled. The Elders Committee Delegates may also assist the Elders Program Coordinator as needed in urgent circumstances in between Elders Committee meetings. (Res. 2023-30; Res. 2021-40; Res. 2014-32)
