A. Article IV, Section 1 of the Constitution provides that the government of Wilton Rancheria shall be composed of a Chairperson, a Vice-Chairperson, a Tribal Council, a General Council, and a Tribal Court.

B. Article IV, Section 2 of the Constitution provides that, except as provided in the Constitution, the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Tribal Council, General Council, and Tribal Court shall be separate and distinct and shall not exercise the powers and functions delegated to any other officer or entity.

C. Article V, Section 1(a) of the Constitution grants the Chairperson the power to execute, administer, and enforce the laws of the Tribe.

D. Article V, Section 1(k) of the Constitution grants the Chairperson the power to administer all departments created by the Tribal Council.

E. Article V, Section 1(o) of the Constitution grants the Chairperson the power to select, hire, and administer personnel.

F. Article VI, Section 2(a) of the Constitution grants the Tribal Council the power to make all laws, including resolutions, codes, and statutes.

G. Article VI, Section 2(c) of the Constitution grants the Tribal Council the power to pass laws regulating the Tribe’s elections, enrollment, employment, and all other matters so long as those laws are consistent with the Constitution. (Res. 2023-54; Res. 2023-04; Res. 2020-78)
