A. Payments will not be made without invoices or receipts documenting the eligible costs.

B. The representative must provide proof of death to the Enrollment Officer when making a request for payment under this chapter.

C. When making a request for eligible costs related to the death of a nonmember who is a member of the Native American community, the representative must provide documented proof that the nonmember was a Native American.

D. The Tribe’s annual budget shall include separate line items for a member burial fund, a family member burial fund, and a nonmember burial fund.

1. Disbursements properly payable out of the line item for the Tribe’s member burial fund may be paid even if the appropriated funds for the line item have been previously exhausted during the fiscal year due to usage beyond the budgeted estimate.

2. Disbursements may be made pursuant to the family member burial fund only so long as funds remain available in that budgeted line item.

3. Disbursements may be made pursuant to the nonmember burial fund only so long as funds remain available in that budgeted line item. (Res. 2015-17)
