A. Each year, at the first Tribal Council meeting following the General Council’s annual meeting, the Tribal Council will select from among its members a Spokesperson to serve for the following year; provided, however, the Tribal Council may change its Spokesperson at any time. Such selection will also occur as early as possible after the Spokesperson position becomes vacant for any reason.

B. The duties of the Spokesperson shall include, but not be limited to, signing all official acts of the Tribal Council, setting the agendas of the regular and special meetings of the Tribal Council, setting the agenda of executive sessions of Tribal Council meetings, presiding over meetings of the Tribal Council at which he or she is physically present, announcing the establishment of a quorum, providing notice of any special meeting to members of the Tribal Council, and working with the Chairperson, the Vice-Chairperson and the Tribal Court. The Spokesperson shall be responsible for ensuring that the Tribal Council operates within the annually appropriated budget for the Tribal Council. In the event that the Tribal Council or a member of the Tribal Council in his or her official capacity is a party to a lawsuit in Tribal Court, the Spokesperson will initially be served all legal documents related to the case.
