A. Article V, Section 1(a) of the Constitution authorizes the Chairperson to execute, administer and enforce the laws of the Tribe.

B. Article V, Section 1(b) of the Constitution authorizes the Chairperson to represent the Tribe on all matters that concern its interests and welfare.

C. Article V, Section 1(c) of the Constitution authorizes the Chairperson to negotiate and enter into treaties, compacts, contracts, and agreements with other governments, organizations, or individuals; provided, however, that any treaty, compact, contract, or agreement that directly or indirectly waives the Tribe’s sovereign immunity must be approved by the Tribal Council.

D. Article V, Section 1(o) of the Constitution authorizes the Chairperson to select, hire, and administer personnel.

E. Article VI, Section 2 of the Constitution authorizes the Tribal Council to make the Tribe’s laws.

F. Article VI, Section 2(a) of the Constitution grants the Tribal Council the power to make all laws, including resolutions, codes, and statutes.

G. Article VI, Section 2(n) of the Constitution grants the Tribal Council the power to protect and foster the Tribe’s religious freedom, culture, language, and traditions.

H. Article VI, Section 2(o) of the Constitution grants the Tribal Council the power to promote public health education, charity, and other such services as may contribute to the social advancement of the members of Wilton Rancheria.

I. Article VI, Section 2(p) of the Constitution grants the Tribal Council the power to pass laws which further develop and define the Tribal Court so long as those laws are consistent with the Constitution.

J. Article VIII, Section 3 of the Constitution grants the Tribal Court the power to interpret and apply the Constitution, laws, customs, and traditions of Wilton Rancheria.

K. Article VIII, Section 4 of the Constitution grants the Tribal Court original jurisdiction over all cases and controversies, both criminal and civil, in law or in equity, arising under the Constitution, laws, customs, and traditions of Wilton Rancheria, including cases in which Wilton Rancheria, or its officials and employees, shall be a party.
