A. The Chairperson may reverse any written decision, including resolutions, acts, and amendments passed by the Tribal Council within ten (10) calendar days after formal written presentation. No written decision of the Tribal Council shall have the full force and effect of law until the Chairperson has provided written notice of his intent to not veto the decision or until ten (10) calendar days have passed, whichever comes first.

B. The Vice-Spokesperson shall ensure that the Chairperson receives formal written presentation of all decisions by the Tribal Council no later than 4:30 p.m. on the next business day following the Tribal Council’s decision.

C. The Chairperson shall report his vetoes to the Tribal Council by written notice to the Spokesperson.

D. The Chairperson’s veto of any Tribal Council decision shall be placed on the agenda of the next regular Tribal Council meeting following the veto. After a veto is presented to the Tribal Council, the Tribal Council may choose to (1) override the Chairperson’s veto; (2) repass the proposed decision by a majority vote after addressing any reasons for veto noted by the Chairperson; or (3) take no further action on the decision.

E. Pursuant to Article VI, Section 2(j) of the Constitution, the Tribal Council may override a veto by the Chairperson by an affirmative vote of two-thirds (⅔) of the entire seated Tribal Council. After the Tribal Council overrides a veto, the decision of the Tribal Council has the immediate effect of law. (Res. 2023-04; Res. 2018-68; Res. 2015-23; Res. 2014-36; Res. 2012-20)
